I design products that make complex things feel simple.
I'm Deborah Jepkemoi, a UI/UX designer based in Nairobi with a background in Informatics and over three years of professional design experience across fintech, AI, health, education, and e-commerce.
My work sits at the intersection of research and craft. I care as much about why something is designed a certain way as I do about how it looks. I start with the user's actual problem, work through the messy middle of research and iteration, and arrive at interfaces that feel obvious in hindsight.
Lately I've been deepening my practice with AI design tools, using them to move faster through ideation, sharpen UI copy, and explore visual directions before committing to a system. The result is a workflow that's more considered, not less. AI handles the generation; I handle the judgment.
I currently design at The Tax Guys, where I work across product, AI feature design, and design systems. Before that I led design across multiple industries at Seba in health, banking, education, and e-commerce, and designed Finplar, a budgeting app that won first place at the KNATCOM-UNESCO Mobile App Development Workshop.
I hold a BSc in Informatics from Moi University and a Google UX Design Professional Certificate. When I'm not designing, I'm probably overanalysing some app's onboarding flow.
